South Korea 4 - 0 Honduras

Hosts cruise in Seoul

Two goals in each half saw South Korea comfortably ease past Honduras in Seoul.

Lee Jung-soo and Kim Jung-woo struck in the first period as Cho Kwang-rae's men took control before Park Chu-young and Lee Keun-ho put the icing on the cake late in the second half to ensure that Luis Fernando Suarez's first match in charge of Honduras proved an unfortunate experience.

It was an impressive performance from the Asian team who carried on where they left off at January's AFC Asian Cup.

Lee Jung-soo opened the scoring two minutes before the half-hour. The Qatar-based defender took advantage of lax Honduran marking to side-foot a corner into the net.

As the first half drew to a close, Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-yung broke down the right and his low cross was helped on by Park into the path of Kim, who slotted home from inside the area.

South Korea continued to push forward after the break and were rewarded eight minutes from the end when Ji Dong-won's cross found Park unmarked on the edge of the six-yard box and the Monaco marksman headed into the bottom corner.

Substitute striker Lee Keun-ho headed home a corner on the stroke of full-time to complete the scoring.

Estonia upset Uruguay, S.Korea win

Estonia shocked World Cup semi-finalists Uruguay 2-0 with a great second half display at the A. Le Coq Arena.

After keeping the Luis Suarez-less Uruguay quiet in the first half, the home side took the lead on 62 minutes through Konstantin Vassiljev and, just two minutes later, the midfielder's corner was smashed into the net by Vjatsheslav Zahovaiko.

Two goals in each half saw South Korea comfortably ease past Honduras 4-0 in Seoul.

New Zealand came from a goal down to hold China in a 1-1 friendly draw at Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium.

The hosts went in front after just two minutes thanks to an own goal from Andrew Boyens but Michael McGlinchey levelled with a superb long-range effort.

Simon Vukcevic's last minute goal saw Montenegro overcome Uzbekistan 1-0 at the Stadion Pod Goricom, while two first half goals from Saulius Mikoliunas and Edgaras Cesnauskis gave Lithuania a good 2-0 win against Poland

United States 1 - 1 Argentina

USA rescue draw in friendly

Juan Agudelo's second-half strike helped the United States clinch a 1-1 draw in their friendly against Argentina after a very disappointing first-half performance.

Argentina took a deserved lead three minutes before half-time when Esteban Cambiasso beat Tim Howard, but Colombian-born forward Agudelo came in to equalise.

Sergio Batista's Argentina, with Lionel Messi ambitiously leading the team on the field, managed to produce ten goalscoring opportunities before Cambiasso opened the scoring.

Howard saved an Angel Di Maria shot from close range in the 34th minute but the custodian was unable to do anything eight minutes later.

Messi took the ball close to the end line and passed the ball to Di Maria, who shot on goal. Howard saved the opportunity but failed to catch the ball so Cambiasso smashed home the rebound.

Timothy Chandler and Agudelo were sent on for Jonathan Spector and Jermaine Jones respectively and the hosts managed to find some tempo and creativity at the New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey.

Fourteen minutes after the interval Landon Donovan's free-kick found Carlos Bocanegra who headed goalwards and when Argentina keeper Mariano Andujar failed to hold onto the ball, Agudelo knocked home.

Argentina's attacking trio Messi, Di Maria and Ezequiel Lavezzi tried to build something but the hosts' defence and keeper Howard proved resolute.

Argentina captain Javier Mascherano was given some rough treatment with four Americans booked - Maurice Edu, Timmy Chandler, Donovan and Bocanegra.

Cambiasso was disappointed by the result and feels Argentina deserved more.

The Inter Milan midfielder told Argentinian Channel 7: "I think we did our best in the first half, we attacked well and we should have scored one more goal.

"Then, a dead ball complicated everything. Anyway, we are just starting a formation process. One positive result more or less is not important in this process."

Argentina are flying to Costa Rica to play the Ticos Wednesday night, while the United States host Paraguay in Nashville, Tennessee.

Scotland 0 - 2 Brazil

Neymar nets brace to down Brazil

Scotland are still looking for an elusive win over Brazil after a Neymar double gave the South Americans a well-deserved win in their friendly match at the Emirates Stadium.

The Scots had not beaten Brazil in nine previous encounters and there was little chance of ending that record in North London as they chased the ball almost from the first whistle.

The five-time World Cup winners had missed several chances before talented 19-year-old Santos striker Neymar drove past Allan McGregor just before the break after taking a pass from Andre Santos.

Brazil cruised through the second half looking to have a few gears in hand.

In the 76th minute, Neymar was fouled by Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam inside the box and the teenage star picked himself up to score from the spot and there were few complaints from the travelling Tartan Army in an impressive crowd of 53,087.

There was a lively atmosphere in the ground before kick-off which was helped by the appearance beforehand of Brazil legend Ronaldo as guest of honour.

Scotland had an early opportunity when Kenny Miller, captain for the day, was fouled by Brazil defender Lucio 30 yards from goal but Charlie Adam's free-kick cannoned off the defensive wall.

The Scots were encouraged but midfielder James McArthur and Adam were guilty of some slackness with their passing which, fortunately for Craig Levein's side, went unpunished.

However, Brazil slowly warmed to the task, showing little glimpses of their trademark fluidity going forward and in the 15th minute Chelsea midfielder Ramires rose high at the back post but could only head over from Elano's cross.

As the famous yellow shirts turned the screw, Jadson's low drive was parried by McGregor before the Scots defence scrambled the ball to safety and then Leandro Damiao skimmed the bar with a header from Elano's corner.

Scotland were chasing the game as Brazil moved up the gears and Leandro had another chance from an Elano cross but this time headed wide.

In the 27th minute Levein's side escaped again when Lucas Leiva and Elano combined down the right and the Liverpool player's cut-back took the combination of McGregor and defender Gary Caldwell to clear, with the latter maybe helped by the use of an arm.

Scotland came close for the first time in the 35th minute when a wonderful whipped in free-kick by Adam was met by Steven Whittaker whose header sped past the far post.

However, Brazil's expected goal arrived four minutes from the break when Neymar took a pass from Andre Santos inside the Scotland box and ignored the attention of Caldwell to almost casually fire past McGregor and in to the far corner.

Neymar started the second half as positively as he had finished the first and there were less than two minutes played when he unleashed a drive from distance which clipped the bar on the way over.

From the goal-kick McGregor put McArthur in trouble and the Rangers keeper had to make amends, diving to take the ball away from Neymar's toes before blocking Leandro's close-range shot.

In the 52nd minute Scotland were cut open again but Ramires blasted over from inside the box after taking a pass from overlapping full-back Dani Alves.

Four minutes later Barry Bannan replaced McArthur before Elano's free-kick from distance was easily saved by McGregor.

Another Elano corner was headed past the post by Leandro on the hour mark by which time Brazil had the game even more firmly in control.

There was a big cheer from the Tartan Army in the 63rd minute when Scotland won their first corner but Adam's disappointing effort was easily cleared, before Kris Commons came on for Whittaker.

The introduction of the Celtic wide man momentarily fired up Scotland and re-energised the Scots' fans.

But in the 76th minute a clumsy challenge by Adam on Neymar saw referee Howard Webb point to the spot and the striker sent McGregor the wrong way with the well-taken penalty.

Then, as Scotland defended some more, the ball appeared to strike the hand of Caldwell again as he tried to block a shot from Santos but Webb shook his head.

Two minutes from the end, after Brown was fouled by substitute Elias 30 yards from goal, Commons' free-kick was comfortably saved by Julio Cesar and any hope of a consolation was gone, although there was still time for Brazil substitute Jonas to miss a sitter.

Miller: Defeat no disgrace

Scotland striker Kenny Miller found reason for cheer despite admitting his side were outplayed by Brazil.

"It was very tough. It was a hard session for the boys today," he said in an interview on ITV. "There was a lot of chasing and a lot of working hard.

"They're a fantastic team. They played some great stuff. We can look at the character of the lads, as much as we got worked we battled hard. We worked hard back and forward.

"It's no disgrace to get beat 2-0 by Brazil."

Coach Craig Levein was also full of praise for the efforts of his team.

"The application of the players was fabulous," he said. "Look at the quality of the opposition. There's a lot better teams than this current Scotland team who have suffered heavy defeats to Brazil.

"They worked manfully and a few of the younger players got some good experience."

Levein also backed Charlie Adam, who gave away the second-half penalty that allowed Neymar to score his second goal.

"He was disappointed with the way he played," he added. "The expectation levels for Charlie Adam now are up in the stratosphere from what they were a few years ago.

"Some were saying before the game he could run the show against Brazil, that's the level he is at now, but he was just disappointed he didn't play as well as he can do.

"I still think he did all he could have."
