Tanah Makmur's 20m shares for public oversubscribed

KUALA LUMPUR: Plantations and property-based Tanah Makmur Bhd's offer of 20 million shares to the public at RM1.25 each was oversubscribed 14.45 times.

The company, which is seeking to list on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia, said on Monday there were 16,828 applications for 309.02 million shares from the Malaysian public.

Under the IPO, another 75.18 million shares were placed out and 6.41 million shares offered to eligible directors and employees.

The listing exercise involved the public issue of 52.14 million new shares and an offer for sale of 49.45 million existing shares. A total of RM127mil was raised, of which RM65.2mil would be for Tanah Makmur and RM61.8mil for the vendors.

Tanah Makmur managing director Tengku Datuk Zubir Tengku Ubaidillah, when commenting on the oversubscription, said this reflected the level of confidence the market has towards the group's fundamentals and the growth prospects of the oil palm plantation and Pahang's property development industries.

CIMB Investment Bank is the principal adviser, sole placement agent, managing underwriter and joint underwriter for the IPO. Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd is the joint underwriter for the IPO.

Out of listing proceeds of RM65.2mil, Tanah Makmur would use RM28.5mil (44%) to develop its plantations while RM5mil (8%) would be used for the palm oil mill, RM13.0mil (20%) for infrastructure of the KotaSAS Township, RM13.1mil (20%) for repayment of bank borrowings and RM5.6mil (8%) for listing expenses.

Its market capitalisation upon listing would be RM497.70 million. Tanah Makmur is expected to be listed on July 17.

It has about 17,969 ha of plantation land in Pahang, comprising 11,633 ha that the group owns and 6,336 ha that is leased.

It operates a palm oil mill with a capacity to process up to 30 tons of fresh fruit bunch per hour.

Under its property development business, Tanah Makmur KotaSAS, is involved in developing the remaining land of the KotaSAS Township project in Kuantan.
