Indonesian govt unveils 81st independence day logo

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government on Monday unveiled the official logo for the country's 81st Independence Day, selecting a design by West Sumatra graphic designer Fajar Novario after a nationwide public vote held on June 24-28.

Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro said the winning design was created by Fajar Novario, co-founder of Auman Design Bureau in Padang, West Sumatra.

"The public, through an open vote, selected logo number two, created by Fajar Novario of Auman Design Bureau, Padang, West Sumatra," Ardiantoro told a press conference.

Ardiantoro congratulated Novario, a visual communication design graduate of Padang State University, on winning the competition.

"The logo presents a strong visual identity and conveys a powerful message," he said.

Ardiantoro said Novario's design received 65,569 votes, or 44.73 percent of ballots cast during the voting period. The ministry said Indonesians living overseas also participated.

The design carries the theme "Collective, Synergy, Growth" and outpolled four finalists from Central Java, Bali, East Java and the Riau Islands.

Ardiantoro said the five finalists were selected by the State Secretariat, the Creative Economy Ministry and the Indonesian Graphic Design Association (ADGI).

The government received 124 logo submissions during the nationwide competition for the official 81st Independence Day emblem.

"I thank everyone who participated in the voting and appreciate the Creative Economy Ministry, related officials and ADGI for organizing the competition," Ardiantoro said.
