Indonesia to publish history book on national heroes

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is preparing a history book featuring biographies of national heroes, Culture Minister Fadli Zon said on Monday.

Speaking to the press at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Zon said that the book compilation will be conducted by his ministry and the Ministry of Social Affairs, based on thorough research.

He explained that the history book will feature heroes who have received the National Hero title from various eras, from the administration of President Soekarno to President Prabowo Subianto.

Regarding the rewriting of history, Zon stated that historians and researchers will compile it professionally.

According to him, the awarding of the title of National Hero, which took place today at the State Palace in Jakarta, will not affect the rewriting of history.

Zon said that historians cannot distort existing history, emphasizing that only historians with proper knowledge and research skills should write history, noting that the task requires expertise and should be carried out by universities to ensure accuracy and credibility.

He also stated that the Ministry of Culture and historians from universities will continue to conduct research related to the rewriting of history and national heroes.
