Govt focus on projects to advance Indonesia and meet people's needs

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government is not only focused on inaugurating major and wonderful projects to propel Indonesia to become a developed nation, but also on development that ensures the people's basic needs are met.

"This is what brings me happiness. There are many more projects I will inaugurate, wonderful and strategic projects that will transform Indonesia into a modern, advanced, and prosperous nation," President Prabowo said during the virtual inauguration of 3,395 bridges and 3,000 clean water sources in Jakarta, Thursday.

He stated that the construction of thousands of bridges built by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) for communities in remote areas is a mission of service to the people. It demonstrates that the TNI and Polri are forces that consistently work for the nation.

The President said that despite the government having undertaken and continuing to pursue massive projects requiring big investment, programs for basic needs such as the construction of bridges and clean water facilities remain a priority, particularly in remote regions with difficult access.

"Maybe we can create more spectacular projects. We need massive investment, and we must always understand that the country must be present for the people living in the most remote areas. They must enjoy a good quality of life," he said.

For example, the bridge construction by the TNI and Polri helps reduce the distances to do economic activities or to attend school.

These facilities also mitigate the dangers when crossing the rivers lack bridges.

The availability of clean water also ensures that people in these regions can live decent lives, in accordance with the rights enshrined in the Constitution of Indonesia.

On this occasion, Prabowo appreciated the TNI and Polri for their initiative in undertaking tangible work that directly benefits the community.

He also praised Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Chief of Polri General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and all the members for their performance.
