Fifa president Sepp Blatter has expressed his belief that points deductions are the best way to combat racism in football.

The issue of discrimination was brought to the fore again when Milan players walked from the pitch during a recent friendly clash with Pro Patria after Kevin-Prince Boateng suffered racial abuse.

And the 76-year-old head of the world's football governing body has offered what he claims is a "radical solution" to such behaviour.

Watford have completed the permanent signing of Fernando Forestieri from Udinese, with the striker having signed a five-and-a-half-year deal.

The 22-year-old, who originally signed for the Hornets on a season-long loan, has scored three goals for Gianfranco Zola's side since making his debut against Bolton in September.

And the Argentina-born forward, who has represented Italy at Under-20 level, has spoken of his delight at sealing the move.

The Scottish Football Association have confirmed Gordon Strachan as their new manager, replacing Craig Levein.

Levein was sacked in November by the SFA, and will be replaced by the former Celtic and Middlesbrough boss, who was capped 50 times by the Scots.

Strachan makes his first return to management since leaving Middlesbrough in October 2010 by mutual consent.

Former Germany captain Franz Beckenbauer has claimed that Zinedine Zidane would make a good international coach due to his less personal nature not being suited to working at a club.

Beckenbauer was one of a number of influential names that were asked to comment on whether the 1998 World Cup winner would make a good trainer, and he feels that players would have respect for him due to his excellent career.

Galatasaray have called for Wesley Sneijder to make a fast decision regarding his future despite a fans' group claiming that a deal to bring the Netherlands international to Turkey is almost done.

The Turkish club have been courting the playmaker in recent weeks and recent reports suggest that the transfer will finally be resolved one way or another.

Oguz Altay, the chairman of the Galatasaray supporters club, Tweeted that the Inter midfielder would have his move confirmed by the end of the week, writing: "I just finished a meeting with Galatasaray chairman Unal Aysal. He told me that there's almost an agreement with Sneijder. Thursday or Friday the deal will be done."

That is contrary to club official Semih Haznedaroglu's view, who admitted that Cimbom are still waiting for a reply from the former Real Madrid man after tabling a contract offer.

Former Germany international Jurgen Klinsmann feels that England deserve to host a World Cup as the Football Association prepares to celebrate its 150th birthday.

The USA coach believes that the country, who won the competition in 1966 on home soil, should get the chance to host football's biggest international tournament because of its history and what the game stands for in the Premier League.

Cote d'Ivoire defender Kolo Toure says his side have "serious problems" in the aftermath of their 4-2 victory over Egypt on Monday.

A brace from Arsenal winger Gervinho and solitary strikes from Lacina Traore and Ya Konan Didier eventually crushed the Pharaohs, but the Manchester City man was desperately unhappy with their defensive showing.

Tunisia striker Issam Jemaa says his side "must win" their opening Africa Cup of Nations clash against Algeria if they are to progress from the group stage of the competition.

The Carthage Eagles have been drawn alongside Ivory Coast, Togo and the Desert Warriors in Group D and the 28-year-old is well aware of the task ahead in a competitive group.

Galatasaray have announced the signing of Didier Drogba from Shanghai Shenhua on a one-and-a-half-year contract.

The former Chelsea star has made the move to Turkey from Shanghai Shenhua after months of speculation linking him with a move away from the Chinese Super League.

The Chelsea legend has long been linked with a return to Europe after leaving Stamford Bridge for China in the summer, and, despite rumours of interest from Italy, the Turkish champions have won the race for his signature.

Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton is set to join Real Mallorca on a loan deal until the end of the season, subject to a medical.

The former Tottenham Hotspur right-back has been on loan at Nottingham Forest since November, but his return back to Villa Park will be short-lived.

The Spanish club will also retain an option to agree a permanent transfer for the defender in the summer.

The Bermellones are currently second from bottom in the Spanish top flight, and will be hoping Hutton can provide some much needed defensive cover after losing their last three league games.

The full-back had made 34 appearances for Aston Villa in the 2011/12 season, but the 28-year-old Scotland international does not now appear to be part of Paul Lambert's future plans.

He has not featured for the Villans since the former Norwich manager took charge.
