Gibran, students visit regions to monitor MBG program

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Thursday began a series of work visits to five provinces, accompanied by five university students to observe the implementation of government priority programs, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG).

"We are going to Ende, Gorontalo, and Papua," he told reporters before departing from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta.

The students joining the visits are from Pelita Harapan University, Sanata Dharma University, the University of Indonesia, Jenderal Soedirman University, and the Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture.

Gibran also expressed appreciation to the student community for conveying their aspirations and input peacefully. He had earlier received student representatives at the Vice Presidential Palace on Monday (June 15), amid students demonstrations in Jakarta.

The Vice President is scheduled to conduct work visits to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Gorontalo, West Papua, Central Papua, and South Papua provinces until June 21, 2026.

The visits are aimed at ensuring that government priority programs are implemented optimally and at strengthening synergy between regional governments and local communities, in line with President Prabowo Subianto's directives.

Gibran is scheduled to begin the tour in NTT after arriving at El Tari International Airport in Kupang. From there, he will travel to Ende District to observe MBG implementation, review development plans for the Red and White Village Cooperatives program, and hold a dialogue with local residents.

In Gorontalo, Gibran is scheduled to open the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen Week (PENAS XVII) and inspect the Bulango Ulu Dam, a strategic infrastructure project that supports food security in the region.

He will then continue the visit to Papua, starting in West Papua where he is scheduled to visit a cocoa production center in South Manokwari District and open a national church choir festival in Manokwari District.

On the final day of the tour, the Vice President will visit Asmat District, South Papua, to inspect several public facilities, including the Asmat Museum of Culture and Progress, a school, a hospital, and a Catholic church.

Agenda details of the VP visit in Central Papua have not yet been disclosed in the official itinerary.
