Regarding the price spike:
In the past few months around the rollover (00:00 on our MT4) the NZD, AUD, and CAD have been "spiking" quite a bit. This happens when the banks that are feeding into our data stream either "pull" their bids or refresh their own system, thusly going offline and not producing any quotes. This results in almost zero liquidity and as a result causes the spike. This happens for about 1 to 2 minutes on a daily basis, and as a result many brokers are susceptible to these price spikes if they don't incorporate safeguards such as a "spike throttle" or completely disconnect their feeds for these currency pairs for the minute or 2 after the rollover. We've worked hard to help prevent these spikes from happening on our own system, but every once in a while they become unpreventable unless our feed to these pairs was completely disconnected. This is what happened with the NZD/USD last week. We're actively pursuing the option of disconnecting the feeds during this time daily, in hopes this will prevent it in pretty much a fail proof way. We will let our clients know if we choose this option, obviously.
