Freemasons in Malaysia

The Star Wars fever is still running high and I plan to catch it this weekend (finally). I wanted to watch it on the big screen
and is the resaon why I avoided the temptation of buying a shaky pirated DVD copy.

However, I am also eagerly awaiting 3 other movies, namely Batman Begins, Fantastic Four and the Da Vinci code.

In case you are not aware, the last movie is based on Dan Brown’s bestseller about a Harvard professor Robert Langdon
(Tom Hanks) who stumbles on a thousand’s year old conspiracy.

Anyway, last week as I was going through Ipoh (again), I noticed this regal building. The thing that caught my eye was a
conspicuous symbol on the compound walls.

It is a symbol of the compass.

What has this got to do with the Da Vinci Code, you may ask.

Well during the height of the Da Vinci Code craze, I did some research on my own and found out that the Freemasons
(the secret society mentioned in the book) have branches and members in Malaysia. Before you think that I have gone bonkers,
there was an article in the Star, whereby their Grand Master came out to talk about their “Fraternity”.

It was mentioned that they have branches in all states in Malaysia apart from Kelantan and another.

I am not sure about that building in Ipoh though. Very little is known about the society even though there is a lot of information about
them on the net. Like for example, some mention that almost all the American Presidents were member of the society (but not George Bush).

Really makes me wonder who these people are and what they do.

Pergerakan Freemason di Malaysia dan penyertaan umat Islam, Fatwa patut dikeluarkan

Artikel ini ditulis bagi mendesak pihak kerajaan membuat penilaian dan mengkaji semula kebenaran pergerakan Freemason di Malaysia dan juga jika perlu Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan menyeluarkan fatwa menyenai penyertaan kaum muslim terutamanya bangsa Melayu di Malaysia menyertai pergerakan ini.
Sejarah awal Freemason dan matlamat pergerakan
Freemason adalah sebuah organisasi yang sangat bersifat rahsia. Freemason dicetuskan oleh para Ksatria Templar (Pejuang Salib) yang pulang ke Eropah dari Jurusalem setelah kalah dari perang salib.

Secara ringkasnya, ada pelbagai teori tentang sejarah awal pergerakan ini, antaranya adalah apabila Freemason dikaitkan dengan Kesatria Templar atau sekumpulan kecil pasukan kesatria yang telah memerangi tentara Islam di Jerusalem.
Terdapat pelbagai legenda dan teori lain mengenai asal-usul kewujudan Freemason. Ada yang mengaitkannya dengan kultus Iris-Osiris pada zaman Mesir kuno. Ada pula yang mengatakan bahawa ia ditubuhkan pada abad ke-2 SM oleh ahli kitab atau pendeta Yahudi daripada mazhab Essene.
Sesetengah ilmuan Freemason berpendapat bahawa bahawa Freemason menjejak akar umbi mereka kepada pembinaan Haikal Sulaiman (King Solomon’s Temple) di Jerusalem pada 967 S.M. Asas cerita itu tertumpu kepada seseorang yang bernama Hiram Abiff yang mendakwa mengetahui rahsia Haikal Sulaiman.
Maka berdasarkan teori-terori asal usul ini, pendapat umum mempercayai selain daripada pergerakkan ini menjalankan aktiviti-aktiviti kepentingan Yahudi dan zionis yang berselindung disebalik sosial, ada juga mempercayai bahawa matlamat akhir pergerakan ini adalah untuk membina semula Kuil Nabi Sulaiman di atas robohan Masjidil Aqsa. Aktiviti ritual dan kerahsiaannya

Pergerakan ini konon tidak membenarkan perbincangan mengenai hal agama dan plolitik dibawa kedalam setiap perjumpaannya di ‘Lodge Manson’nya (rumah pergerakan), kesemua bentuk Freemason berkongsi moral dan metafizik yang sama dan yang biasanya juga termasuk perisytiharan perlembagaan terhadap kepercayaan kepada satu Tuhan Yang Maha Agung (sumber: wikipedia).
Apa sebenarnya yang berlaku dan bagaimanakah ritual-ritual mereka menjadi satu kerahsiaan yang amat kuat, sehinggakan semasa perjumpaan dijalankan pekerja-pekerja biasa dirumah pergerakan tidak dibenarkan melihat dan semua pintu dan tingkap ditutup rapat. Ada pendapat yang mengaitkan ritual-ritual mereka bersumberkan amalan kono Yahudi. Adakah pergerakan ini mengamal ritual-ritual sulit yang bertentang dengan agama Islam, maupun agama lain (ini kerana sejak dari dahulu, pihak Gereja Kristian juga amat menentang pergerakan ini)? Seorang Ulama’ yang prominen, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty (pensyarah kanan dan ilmuan Islam di Institut Islam Toronto, Ontario, Kanada) mengatakan:

“As far as I know, Freemasonry is a secret organization whose beliefs and practices are totally kept confidential except from those who are initiated into it. They have levels of secrets which are not divulged to those who are at lower levels. A Muslim should never fall prey or give allegiance to something which cannot be scrutinized by the firm criteria of the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Whoever joins Freemasonry is like a person who writes a blank check; by doing so he agrees to give allegiance blindly to an authority to comply with their wishes no matter what they are.
No Muslim can surrender his will unconditionally to anyone but Allah. If anyone has done so, he is guilty of the most blatant violation namely shirk (associating partners with Allah). Allah says: “Do they have partners beside Allah who shall prescribe for them rituals that Allah has not sanctioned.” (Ash-Shura: 21)”

Delving into the core of Freemasonry and its nature, we would like also to cite the following:
“The Society of Freemasons is a secret organization with aims which are never officially declared in public. It engulfs itself with a thick curtain of secrecy to the extent that any new recruit gives a most solemn oath not to reveal its secrets. He is made fully aware that he reveals these secrets at peril to his life. Admission to the society is not open to everyone. In fact, the Society of Freemasons recruits its members after careful study of their characters and positions. It also tries hard to enlist in its membership kings, presidents, ministers, leading politicians and highly influential people. Such people are given honorary membership that keeps them at the periphery of the society, which means that they do not share in its decision making and they are not let into its secrets. Only those who are prepared to work with dedication for the aims of the society are made aware of these secrets. This, too, after they have passed certain tests and been promoted from one degree to another in the hierarchy of the society.
What attracts people to join the Freemasonry is the assurance of mutual help which its members pledge themselves to give on joining. A Freemason is expected to give unlimited support to other members of the society. Members have certain signs by which they come to know each other, such as the way they shake hands with other people and certain additions in their signatures on letters, etc. In countries where Freemasonry is well established, this can be of great advantage to any member who shows dedication to the cause.
A number of people have written about the secret aims of the Society of Freemasons. These were largely ex-members who left the society after finding that they could not reconcile themselves to its aims and purposes. The majority of these cases were in countries where the society was not able to promote itself well, which, in turn, limited its membership. This forced it to promote certain members to higher degrees, which enabled them to know more of the secrets of the society. Through such people we know that the society has a very strict hierarchy that keeps members at a low degree until they have passed a very severe test of loyalty and dedication. We also know that the society serves the aims of world Jewry and derives its name from that particular purpose. A “mason” is a builder, and the Society of Freemasons aims to rebuild the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem after destroying Al-Aqsa Mosque because the Jews allege that the mosque has been built on the site of the destroyed temple.
Everything that furthers the interest of the Jews and promotes their position in the world is undertaken by the society. The cover of absolute secrecy and its strict hierarchy enables it to make use of the positions and influence of its non-Jewish members to serve the Jewish cause. We have to understand that many of its members work for the society trusting that they only serve the causes of liberty, equality and justice. They remain unaware that they simply serve the cause of giving the Jews supremacy in world affairs. Freemasonry has over the years earned itself a number of enemies, most notably the Catholic Church.
In view of all this, there is no doubt that if a Muslim joins the Society of Freemasons, he contravenes the teachings of Islam. The aims, policy and practices of this society are against the principles of Islam and violate its laws. For example, Islam believes in maintaining justice among all people, regardless of race, color, family, position or creed. A Muslim must be fair to all people. Islam forbids favoritism, nepotism and discrimination on any basis. Freemasons favor one another on the basis of membership of their society.
Islam respects other religions. Freemasonry deceives its members into thinking that they further the cause of a better humanity when they are actually furthering the interests of those who seek to give the Jews supremacy over all peoples of the world. Islam is the final message from Allah to man. It is the religion that supercedes all past divine messages, including Judaism.
Freemasonry seeks to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to rebuild the Temple of Solomon in its place. How can a Muslim, then, join such a society?
Islam believes in open methods and declared aims and orders its followers to be always truthful and to follow a straight path. Freemasonry shrouds itself in secrecy to cover its wicked practices. If its aims were truly to promote a better humanity, it would have come out into the open and declared its aims and policies. Only evil cloaks itself in secrecy because it wants to hide its repugnant nature.”

Terdapat banyak lagi pendapat para ulama’ yang mengharamkan orang Islam menyertai freemason atas alasan bertentangan dengan ajaran Islam dan aqidah umat Islam. Freemason di Malaysia dan rantau Asia Tenggara

Freemason pernah menjadi isu di Malaysia apabila Haji Sulaiman Palestin bertanding jawatan dalam UMNO. Ada dakwaan pemimpin tertentu ditaja atau menjadi ahli Freemson untuk melonjak naik dalam hierarki negara. Awal 1980-an isu ini kembali senyap dalam persidangan UMNO.
Di Malaysia, cawangan Freemason beroperasi sebagai Loji Besar Daerah Timur Tengah (District Grand Lodges of Middle East atau DGLME). DGLME secara rasmi bermula di Kuala Lumpur pada 20 Oktober 1916. Ia dipanggil Timur Tengah kerana pada awal kurun ke-19, setiap yang berada antara timur India tidak termasuk timur jauh (Hong Kong, China dan Jepun) dikenali sebagai Timur Tengah. Hanya pada kurun ke-20, istilah Timur Tengah merujuk kepada negara Arab dan Teluk. Cawangan ini bagaimanapun tidak mahu mengubah namanya kerana sudah biasa dengan nama tersebut dan tradisinya.
DGLME ini meliputi bandar yang luas termasuk bandar lain di rantau ini:

Singapura: 3 loji
Kuala Lumpur: 3 loji
Pulau Pinang: 1 loji
lpoh: 1 loji
Kuantan: 1 loji
Kuching: 2 loji
port Dickson: 1 loji
Port Klang: 1 loji
Taiping: 1 loji
Kota Kinabalu: 1 loji
Bangkok: 3 loji
Pattaya: 1 loji

Kalau diperhatikan hanya negeri Kelantan dan Terengganu sahaja yang tidak mempunyai cawangan Freemason. PEWARIS MALAYSIA agak khuatir dengan kukuhnya pergerakan ini bertapak di Malaysia sejak sekian lama. Bahkan terdapat laporan bahawa terdapat juga orang-orang Islam atau Melayu menyertai pergerakan ini secara aktif atau sulit. Bahkan masa ini ada juga laporan kalangan ahlinya yang beragama Islam daripada golongan ternama, professional dan pemimpin.
Maka kita dapat melihat pembawakan isu-isu terkini semasa samaada secara kebetulan atau dirancang, bertepatan dengan matlamat dan ideology pergerakan ini, sebagai contoh hak persamaan antara Agama, dialog antara Agama, hak persamaan kaum dan banyak lagi. PEWARIS MALAYSIA khuatir dan berprasangka buruk bahawa isu-isu ini dirancang secara sulit atau digerakkan secara sulit oleh pergerakan ini ataupun pergerakan yang berhubungkait dengan mereka bagi mengucar kacirkan keamanan Negara.
