After a stunning series of performances at the Emirates Cup, it is little surprise we have turned our attention to Arsenal's Jack Wilshere.

A graduate of Arsenal's famed youth academy, the Hertfordshire-born starlet is on the brink of making a big breakthrough at the Emirates.

Comparisons with the legendary Liam Brady say it all. Wilshere possesses a great deal of talent, and his recent performances in pre-season have seen his stock rise again further.

However, suggestions that the 17-year-old could be included in Fabio Capello's squad for next year's World Cup in South Africa are hugely premature.

Wilshere, as his age indicates, is still a raw talent. His recent form in pre-season is not unfamiliar, for he shined similarly this time last year.

The hype surrounding Wilshere is intensified as he is an Englishman. An Englishman that is naturally left-footed.

At just 5ft 7in, the teenager is slight, but will surely bulk-up as he matures. What he lacks physically, he makes up for technically.

Wilshere's ability on the ball is outstanding, and Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that he sees him in the 'Bergkamp role' in the future.

But it remains to be seen how much first-team action Wilshere will see this term - but he is only 17 and has time on his side.

The scout says...
With the right nurturing, and he will no doubt get that at Arsenal under Wenger, Wilshere does have the opportunity to be a great.

Such quality at his age is hard to overlook.

JOSEBAXTER.jpg

Jose Baxter is already being labelled as the new Wayne Rooney - a tag which will likely soon be shrugged off once the public as a whole has witnessed his precocious talents.

The 16-year-old has already featured heavily during this pre-season for The Toffees, which has allowed many their first glimpse of the England youth star.

Baxter for most would have first caught the eye playing on Sky Sports during the Victory Shield last season when he captained England to glory.

Born in Bootle, Baxter can play in midfield or up-front - but is naturally a forward with an eye for goal. He has already showed that during pre-season, cutting inside before brilliantly firing home at Nottingham Forest.

David Moyes has already said he will take care to use Baxter sparingly - but there is no better man to ease through the youngster than the Scot who brought Rooney through with such aplomb.

The scout says...
Within 12-months Baxter could be a household name. The hype suggests he could be the new Wayne Rooney, but by the same token he could become the new Stuart Barlow. Only time will tell, but he certainly looks the part at the moment.

SEKOUCISSE.jpg

Sekou Cisse is an agile - lightning quick, athletic forward who can play up-front or out-wide.

Like many Ivorian players he is full of running and provides a constant threat for whoever he is playing for and he looks as if he could be the next big name to emerge from his country.

After top-scoring at the esteemded Toulon Tournament earlier this year, he shone at the Olympics - proving he can produce the goods at a high level.

He is now being tipped for big things and it seems unlikely Roda JC will be able to hang on to him for much longer.

The scout says

Similar in style to countryman Solomon Kalou, in that he is probably more of a supplier of goals than a natural finisher - but in time he could become a regular scorer at a high level.

MARKOMARIN.jpg

Seldom has the arrival of a youngster playing for a newly-promoted team been the cause of so much attention as that of Borussia Monchengladbach starlet Marko Marin.

The diminutive 19-year-old winger hit top form in the spring of this year, forefronting the Foals' return to the top flight. Marin's four goals and eight assists in the second half of last season not only helped him be voted Gladbach's player of the year by the club's fans, but also earned him a spot in Joachim Low's provisional squad for Euro 2008.

The Bosnia-born youngster made his international debut in a warm-up game against Belarus before surprisingly failing to make the final cut. Low, however, included Marin against Belgium in Germany's first game since the finals and he scored in a 2-0 victory, showing he has has the potential to play a role in the manager's 2010 plans.

Technically gifted and possessing a sweet left foot, Marin kept both fans and opponents continually guessing last season and now most experts are curious to see how he will fare against top-class Bundesliga defenders in a year in which Gladbach are expected to battle relegation.

The scout says...
There is little doubt that Marin has the natural ability to make it to the top of both the national and international game in the near future. If he can continue to work on his tactical awareness and physical presence in his first full year in the Bundesliga, he could play a crucial role in Germany's 2010 World Cup challenge in South Africa.

MARTINZEMAN.jpg

A left-footed creative player, Martin Zeman has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the Czech top-flight this season.

Zeman is a light-heeled player with great technique and, despite being on the small side, his technique carries him through.

He specialises in taking free-kicks and corners has been compared by many to another good left-footer Patrik Berger. Zeman is also well placed to learn some tricks from the former Liverpool and Aston Villa man as he is currently Sparta skipper.

His weakness might be in fulfilling various tactical plans and his inexperience at senior level.

The scout says...

The 19-year-old will hope he can continue to progress, and make a team place his own despite strong competition in midfield. Sparta have huge hopes for him and think he could be their ace in the pack in coming seasons.

PJANIC.jpg

Despite only being 18-years-old Miralem Pjanic is already part of the best club in France - Lyon. Educated at Metz and after just one season in Ligue 1, the playmaker was snapped up by the reigning champions on a four-year contract after they paid more than £5million for his signature.

Pjanic is an old-fashioned playmaker and has immediately impressed the observers with huge technical qualities.

The youngster has led an amazing life so far. Born in Bosnia, 1990, Miralem left his native country with his family due to war, and they finally settled in Luxemburg before Metz signed him at just 14 and he quickly rose through the ranks becoming one of the most highly-rated players for his age in the world.

The 18-year-old will have to improve physically and reach a new level to be competitive with Lyon in the Champions League, a competition he will discover soon at Stade Gerland.

The scout says...

The coming season will be essential to the career of the young Bosnian. If he can become a regular in the Lyon starting XI, where there is a lot of competition this term in the midfield, Pjanic could be on his to becoming a true great.
