𝟭𝟬 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙍𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙨 *Investing*
1) Understand that it takes 2-5 years to build a portfolio, depending on what percentage of your net worth you are investing, and ideally you should have a multi decade time horizon.
2) Understand you need to start small and add a regular amount from your savings (or lump sum) on a quarterly basis, that hopefully you can slowly increase over time as your income grows
3) Understand that if the market drops in your first 1-2 years that could actually be a good thing as you will be buying the same great companies at a discount
4) Understand that stocks should be the dominant market you invest in as, long term, stocks outperform all other liquid asset classes
5) Understand that shorting and leveraging should be avoided unless you are a very experienced investor and have a very good reason
6) Understand not to invest any money that you might need to spend in the next 5 years, and you first need an emergency cash fund of 6-9 months of expenses in case you lose your income
7) Understand that you should plan buy to hold indefinitely, there are very few reasons to sell
8) Understand that investing is a profession that takes minimum 5-10 years to master
9) Understand that the less you trade, and the less you even look at your portfolio, the more money you will make
10) Understand what is exponential growth on your investments (see the picture below)
