The Cast of Demon Slayer is made up of some pretty unique characters. This is every small detail you need to know about the important ones.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a popular anime based on a manga by Koyoharu Gotouge. The show has just one season at the moment, which aired from April to September 2019, and a movie that came out a year later. Demon Slayer is published by Shueisha and produced by Ufotable, and the second season debuted towards the end of 2021.


The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, who wants to become a Demon Slayer because a demon killed his entire family and turned his sister, Nezuko, into a demon. He meets Giyu Tomioka, a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, who recruits him. Throughout Tanjiro's quest to restore his sister to her human form and avenge his family, he meets a bunch of other Demon Slayers who become staples of the plot.

Although they will be kept to a minimum, spoilers will not be completely avoidable. Please bear that in mind if you are not up-to-date with the anime.

Assuming the anime sticks closely to the manga, Demon Slayer is closing in on its halfway point, as this season will cover 99 chapters out of the available 205. Naturally, this means there are plenty of incredible characters who have yet to be introduced to anime-only watchers. As the story progresses, this article will be expanded to incorporate more of the show's central figures. In this case, Daki and Gyutaro have been added.

While not all born equal, each Demon Slayer character brings something new to the plate. Tanjiro Kamado​

Demon Slayer's main character, Tanjiro's life got turned into a walking nightmare when a demon slaughtered his family and turned his sister, Nezuko, to the dark side. Driven by anger and love for his sibling, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps to eradicate the demons and, hopefully, find a way to revert Nezuko back to a human.

While a warm and kind person, Tanjiro is more than willing to make tough decisions. He is under no illusion that demons should be sparred or that killing would make him no better than his enemies; Tanjiro gets the job done.

Nezuko Kamado​

Nezuko Kamado is one of the youngest characters in Demon Slayer as she is only 12 years old at the start of the story when she is turned into a demon. A few episodes later, Nezuko is 14 years old, however, physically, she has not aged since that faithful and tragic day, and that's something that will not change unless Tanjiro finds a cure.

Nezuko's transition into demonhood naturally altered her personality, making her far more fearless and direct than she was as a human. However, she retains some of her previous traits, particularly her desire to protect Tanjiro.

Zenitsu Agatsuma​

Despite being a bit older than Tanjiro, Zenitsu Agatsuma doesn't generally come across that way since his natural disposition is to flee. Although he doesn't always show it, Zenitsu is far from incapable with a weapon, a familiarity stemming from his training-fueled upbringing as Jigoro Kuwajima's pupil.

Zenitsu has fair skin and golden eyes. His hair is bright yellow (thanks to being struck by lightning) and shaped in basically a bowl cut.

Inosuke Hashibira​

Inosuke Hashibira tends to jump into battle without much thought. Although he is very much capable of taking care of himself, Inosuke's habit of overestimating his own abilities tends to drop him in boiling water, particularly since he constantly wants to challenge anyone who could possibly match him in combat.

Inosuke was raised by boars as a child, something reflected by his selection of headwear. Inosuke's background means he often struggles with human traditions, emotions, and customs, although he slowly changes thanks to his affiliation with the Demon Slayer Corps.

Kanao Tsuyuri​

Kanao has large, gentle-looking pink eyes and thin black hair worn in a ponytail. A rough upbringing thought Kanao to completely close herself off as a method of self-preservation. For the longest time, Kanao showed little to no emotion and refused to make any decisions for herself, opting to leave such matters to others or chance.

As with most heroic Demon Slayer characters, Kanao matures quite a bit as the series progresses, although only hints of that have been provided by the anime.

Genya Shinazugawa​

Another character with a tragic backstory, Genya witnessed his siblings be murdered by his demonized mother. He also saw his only surviving brother, Sanemi, kill his mother. Although he cannot use Breathing Techniques, Genya is a strong fighter who has the talent for absorbing demon abilities.

Genya's hot-headed nature doesn't make him the easiest Demon Slayer to work with, at least during the early stages of the anime. However, Genya becomes more sociable as the series goes on.

Sanemi Shinazugawa​

The Wind Hashira looks absolutely crazy and not someone to be messed around with. The psychotic nature of his gaze seems like it'd be enough to freeze any enemy in its tracks.

One can only wonder just how much damage this Hashira will be able to inflict with his attacks. Manga fans might be aware, but it's the potential of the anime and its visuals that have got fans excited to see Shinazugawa in action.
