Andreessen Horowitz, a leading American venture capital firm known as a16z, announced that it has raised over $15 billion across five separate venture funds to boost American technology. This amount makes up more than 18% of all venture funds raised in the U.S. in 2025, according to firm co-founder Ben Horowitz.

“As the American leader in venture capital, the fate of new technology in the United States rests partly on our shoulders. Our mission is ensuring that America wins the next 100 years of technology,” Horowitz stated.

He emphasized the significance of focusing on AI and crypto, along with applying these technologies to areas that foster human development: biology, health, defense, public safety, education, and entertainment.

This funding is intended for investments in American dynamism, apps, biology and health, infrastructure and growth, and other venture strategies. Although the fundraise announcement does not specifically allocate funds for crypto, a16z crypto, the firm's crypto division, has led significant investments in the crypto industry, including companies and projects like Coinbase, Solana, Uniswap, OpenSea, Phantom, among others.

In the past year, their investments included participation in a $300 million fundraise from prediction market Kalshi, a $70 million investment in Ethereum restaking protocol EigenLayer, and a token investment in Solana DeFi protocol, Jito.

Since 2018, Andreessen Horowitz has maintained its presence in the crypto space, initially starting with a $350 million crypto fund for industry companies and protocols. Over the years, the firm has raised at least three specific crypto funds, amassing over $7 billion in total. With the newest raise, the firm underscores the importance of America's technological leadership for the future.

“There is no other country that comes close to giving everyone a chance to grab that opportunity and build. If America fails to win technologically, it will lose economically, militarily, geopolitically, and culturally. And the entire world will lose, as well,” Horowitz wrote.
