Crypto startups snag $36m from investors
Six crypto startups raised more than $36 million this week, according to DefiLlama data. This brings the total funding for crypto startups to over $14 billion in the first eight months of 2025, outpacing 2024’s total by more than $1 billion. Industry players have already raised over $4 billion in July and August alone.
PitchBook predicts that the industry will raise $18 billion this year. Investors from Galaxy Ventures and Codebase expect it to go even higher, with expectations of over $25 billion to be invested in the industry in 2025.
Here are three of the biggest raises this week.
Block Earner, $8 million
Australian fintech Block Earner has raised $8 million in a Series A funding round led by CMCC Global’s Titan Fund, with participation from King River Capital. The raise values the startup at $75 million. Founded in 2021, Block Earner offers crypto-backed lending products, including Bitcoin-collateralized home loans at a 9.5% rate, well above traditional mortgage levels. CEO Charlie Karaboga stated that the funding would accelerate product development and expand access to regulated crypto-financial services.
Cointel, $7.4 million
AI-native crypto platform Cointel has raised $7.4 million in a strategic round led by Avalanche and Sugafam Inc. to scale its security and intelligence toolkits for digital asset investors. Targeting global growth, Cointel aims to combat crypto scams by offering real-time analytics, scam detection, and multilingual education tools. The platform is expanding from Japan and Turkey into North America, with beginner and pro tiers designed to onboard the next 100 million crypto users.
Overtake, $7 million
Overtak, a peer-to-peer marketplace on Sui for trading gaming assets, raised $7 million from Sui, ItemMania, ItemBay, JB Investment, Green Whale Ventures, and Immutable.
