Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said community-based creative spaces play a strategic role in preserving cultural sustainability while encouraging innovation without losing traditional roots.

"Culture will remain alive not only because it is passed down, but because it is given space to be practiced, developed, and celebrated collectively by its communities," Zon said in an official statement received here on Saturday.

According to him, the commitment is in line with Article 32 paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution.

The Ministry of Culture continues to strengthen the protection of local cultural traditions through community empowerment, the organization of cultural festivals, and the documentation of cultural heritage.

On the other hand, the ministry also promotes the regeneration of cultural values and utilizing digital technology to document and promote Indonesian culture internationally.

In this regard, Zon gave attention to the Banyumas Lengger Bicara 2026 Gemah Ripah Loh Jinawi event, initiated by the Lengger Bicara Foundation, describing the performance as a real manifestation of the community's commitment to preserving cultural heritage.

According to him, Lengger Banyumas is more than just a performing dance, but it also embodies history, the values of the local community, aesthetic expression, and a cultural identity passed down from generation to generation.

Through its dance movements, music, songs, and distinctive interactions, Lengger Banyumas represents the richness of traditions rooted in the Banyumas cultural heritage.

"The Lengger Banyumas performance can continue to serve as a space for cultural dialogue that strengthens solidarity, reinforces regional identity, and makes a tangible contribution to the Indonesian culture advancement," Zon remarked.

Meanwhile, Banyumas District Head Sadewo Tri Lastiono explained that the theme "Gemah Ripah Loh Jinawi," adopted for the third edition of Banyumas Lengger Bicara, depicts a prosperous land where culture flourishes alongside its people.
