Chelsea boss Ancelotti admits he would take Liverpool’s Torres

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted for the first time that he would like to have Liverpool striker Fernando Torres at the club.

The Blues boss had previously stated that there would be no room for the Spaniard at Stamford Bridge with Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka up front but has reneged on that and now agrees with Drogba that he would be a good fit for the Premiers although he did admit a deal was unlikely at this stage.

"It's not only Drogba - I would like to play with Torres. He's a very good player,” Ancelotti said.

"But this is not an issue for now. He is a Liverpool player and is a good striker but we have two fantastic strikers and this is not for this moment."

Chelsea are interested in released Notts County goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The Daily Mail says the Premier League champions had scouts watching the 23-year-old playing for Notts County against Torquay last weekend and have earmarked him as a possible understudy for Petr Cech.

Schmeichel, who is now a free agent, has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich, West Brom and Derby.

Chelsea will not consider selling Real Madrid and Barcelona target Ashley Cole.

The London Evening Standard says it has been reported that the England left-back wants to leave Stamford Bridge because he has had enough of the intense scrutiny into his private life. The 29-year-old has come under fire for his behaviour off the pitch and regularly been featured on the front pages due to the break up of his marriage with Cheryl Cole.

With reports that offers for Cole could reach £25million, Chelsea's desire to break even has led to talk they may cash in on the former Arsenal star to raise the funds they need to buy players such as Sergio Aguero or Fernando Torres.

But it is understood the club are not interested in listening to any bids for a player they consider to be “the best left-back in the world”.
