PREPARE for a 'rougher ride' as the economy slows, but the Government will ensure that low income Singaporeans can cope with the bumps.

Speaking at the annual National Day dinner at his Tanjong Pagar constituency, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew said: 'We cannot protect our people completely from the high oil and food prices. But we will make sure that they can manage.' He referred to the slew of relief measures this year, costing over $3 billion, with many of them targeted at low wage workers.

MM Lee believes it looks 'increasingly likely' that the US credit crunch will cause a downturn when the new US President takes over in January. He said: 'There will be retrenchments in those industries whose exports to America and Europe are affected,' he warned. But foreign workers will take the brunt, 'saving many Singaporeans their jobs'.


From the above extracted news, is there any punishment for Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew for his deadly mistake made in supporting the ceased-to-exist Jewish faction ??

Do you, Anwar, willing to be another bankrupted politician just like Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew ??

We are happy to see the One-Man-Gang Anwar, with tiny brain, didn't response to the "sumpah" thing. The false sodomy "sumpah" can be response like this :

After Anwar has won the by-election, Anwar should go to mosque to pray and tell the public that he thanks Allah for what Allah did in the by-election. Those demon who make use of Allah's name such as the UMNO leaders have faced defeat in the by-election. Anwar MUST use the winning of by-election as religious matter against the stupid UMNO leaders. Make a good use of by-election winning as religious issue and political issue. Can you do that, Anwar ??

Well, we don't think Anwar can do the right thing when UMNO leaders are making an apparent, obvious mistake. If Anwar can make a good use of his by-election to hurt UMNO leaders badly both in religious issue and political issue, then Anwar may have a chance to run the Prime Ministership in the next general election.

The only resaon why we cannot support Anwar is because Anwar is still tight himself up with the bankrupted Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew !!

Do you feel strange to see Composite Index fell like this recently ?? Can you give an acceptable explanation ?? Well, we can.

The false sodomy sworn in, using Quaran but in Christian manner. This should not be the case because Badawi is a ulama. This is strange case 1. Then Composite Index fell like hell as if the tomorrow is the end of the world. This is strange case 2. CPO and bulk oil palm prices fell like hell only to indicate that Barisan Nasional cannot produce any more money to perform overly and heavily subsidy, but why can't L&G, SAPCRES and MRCB get their share prices rise ?? This is strange case 3. Last strange case is Najib leads the must-lost fight !!

Everyone knows Anwar must win. So whoever leads the BN candidate must be blamed for the lost. Badawi is a compromised candidate between Mahathir and Lee Kuan Yew. Shouldn't Najib be the compromised candidate between Mahathir and Badawi after Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew got bankrupted ??

Badawi is a humble leader. His info should be more than others. After we relentlessly telling Badawi that Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew has gone bankrupted, Badawi should think for the future of ethnic Malay. If you can choose between these two : Anwar and Najib, who will you choose ??

Badawi is a humble leader, so his choice should not be too much different from yours. Do you think Najib can lead Malaysia out from this economic downturn ??

If you choose Anwar, so is the Composite Index. Sharp fall of Composite Index is giving Anwar a helping hand. After Anwar won the by-election, Composite Index sharply rebound, what would you feel ?? Don't you think Composite Index is helping Anwar right now ?? Who is the Finance Minister ??

Badawi has made his choice as who should lead Malaysia in the short coming future.

Hey guys, what do you think about the comment we posted yesterday ?? If you are tradeSignum, you should have seen the exclusive posting this morning. One thing pretty sure is Badawi and Anwar do care about what we had posted.

So think about what Najib felt !!

We believe Composite Index and all the counters except CPO counters should rise until the by-election. CPO counters cannot rise. And Badawi should tell everyone when PROTON will be sold to Geely.

After Anwar landslide victory in the by-election, political instability gradually diminished. The Budget should not promote anything as long as Badawi and other BN leaders still rely upon CPO counters such as Synergy Drive (formerly known as Sime Darby), IOICORP, KLK, etc. to push up the Composite Index.

That is why we had stressed upon L&G, MRCB, SAPCRES to play a role in pushing up the Composite Index. There is a large price gap for governmental funds to manipulate.

Temasek defends investment strategy​

Temasek Holdings, the Singapore state investment agency, on Tuesday defended its strategy of investing in Merrill Lynch and Barclays, insisting that it saw value in US and UK financial stocks in spite of setbacks from the credit crunch.

However, the group warned that it expected market volatility in the months ahead and there was a risk it could suffer losses in asset values during the current financial year, which ends in March 2009.

His comments came as Temasek reported a doubling of net profits to a record S$18.2bn ($12.8bn) last financial year as it increased asset sales to counter global market turbulence.

Temasek agreed in July 2007 to take an initial 2 per cent stake in the UK’s Barclays and in December last year took a 9.5 per cent stake in Merrill, the US investment bank.

Michael Dee, the head of Temasek’s international division, said financials were “a very good proxy for economic growth”. He said Temasek believed it was investing in “turnaround champions for future growth” with its stakes in Merrill and Barclays.

Although the share prices of Merrill and Barclays have fallen sharply since Temasek’s initial investments in them, Manish Kejriwal, Temasek’s international investment chief, said the agency “concentrated on the US and the UK because we see value . . . But we can’t time these things perfectly.”

The Merrill and Barclays investments represented a shift away from Temasek’s focus on Asia, with the majority of net investments made outside the region for the first time.

“It may be premature to say that we have a global profile, but that’s the direction we want to move [in],” Mr Dee said.

The investment agency also disclosed that it received a S$10bn capital injection last year from Singapore’s finance ministry, its sole shareholder, which helped boost its net portfolio value by 13 per cent to S$185bn.

The capital injection came at the start of Temasek’s last financial year in April 2007 and occurred before the start of the global credit crunch.

Temasek said on Tuesday it increased its exposure to financial groups to 40 per cent of its portfolio, up from 38 per cent.

Bank of China (BOC), China's third-largest commercial lender by assets, has denied accusations that it transferred money to terrorist groups, and has said it will defend itself against a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles.

On Friday, the Associated Press (AP) reported that more than 100 victims of terrorism in Israel had filed a lawsuit against the BOC demanding the institution stop transferring money to terrorist groups.

The suit accuses the bank of putting through dozens of wire transfers totaling several million dollars to Hamas and Islamic Jihad and ignoring Israeli demands to desist, AP said.

The Israelis claim the money helped finance attacks between 2004 and last year.

"The charge against BOC is sheer nonsense," Wang Zhaowen, a spokesman for the bank said Wednesday.

BOC has always conducted its business in conformity to the anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist requirements of the United Nations, he said.

The bank has always abided by rules set by related industry supervisors and regulators in China and abroad, and its internal anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist policies also ban financial services for terrorist organizations, he said.

BOC will clarify the facts through legal procedures, and reserves the right to file a counter-lawsuit and to adopt any other necessary legal measures, Wang said.

"We believe the American court will make a just verdict on the case according to law and the facts," he said.

The Chinese government always attaches importance to the fight against money laundering and financing of terrorism, he said.

The country's first anti-money laundering law took effect last year.

Under the law, banks must keep a database of clients' background information and report all large or suspicious transactions.

As of the end of 2006, a total of 1,239 cases involving 387.1 billion yuan ($56.44 billion) had been reported to police, according to the website of the central bank's China Anti-Money Laundering Monitoring and Analysis Center.

The site did not provide details of whether any cases had resulted in criminal penalties.
