BIJI BENIH KELAPA SAWIT
Di sini saya ingin memperkenalkan sejenis biji benih kelapa sawit yang istimewa berbanding kebanyankan biji benih yang ada di pasaran. Di bawah ialah ringkasan perbandingan yang akan saya tunjukkan antara biji benih biasa dan biji benih ini. Sekalung minta maaf atas kesulitan dalam penterjemahan ke Bahasa Melaysia.
a) Longer Tree Life Shell
Normal tree is around 20 years as the tree will grow high. Thus the capability for water to pump up to fruit become lesser and as a result, lesser fruit when a tree is arriving the old age period. With above tree type, it has longer life shell, about 50 year old and even that, the tree still can produce very much fruit due to its nature of height which is very short (You can refer to the picture attached below).
b) More Productivity
If 1 ekar palm land can produce palm fruit 30K ton in average monthly, with this type of tree, the productivity will grow 2-3 times higher which is 60K-90K ton in average monthly under the same arce of land.
c) The Resistance of Bacteria/Virus Infection
There is a study made between 2 kinds of trees (with 1 normal type and another is the above type), the above tree type show the better result in fighting against the bacteria/virus infection.
d) Ease of Harvesting
Due to its nature of height which is short, this will ease in harversting work.
e) Same Total of Tree per One Land Arce
Under 1 arce of land, if it is planted with the normal tree type, there can be around 55 trees for example. With this new type, the same total of tree can be planted without affecting the total coverage area.
f) Bigger Tree Stem
The stem of the new type is 3 times bigger than normal palm tree. It require 2-3 people to round the tree stem. Refer to picture below for better understanding
g) Price of the seed is slightly more expensive compare to the normal palm tree. However, due to the longer life shell [as stated in (a)] and more productivity [as stated in (b)], therefore, a land owner will get back the capital of tree in a very short time. Current selling price is RM10 per seed (biji). Add extra RM0.50 per seed for transport.
h) Faster Productivity
If normal tree type require 36 months (3 years) to have the first productivity, with above new type, it will require only 22 months (less than 2 years) to see the first productivity.
