Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi oversaw the evacuation of passengers, track recovery, and the initial investigation following the derailment of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train, which operates on the Surabaya Pasar Turi–Gambir route.

The incident occurred near Pegaden Baru Station in Subang, West Java.

“I express my concern over the derailment of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train set in Subang Regency, West Java, which occurred on Friday (August 1),” the minister stated in Jakarta on Saturday.

To speed up the recovery process, cranes from Bandung Depot 2 and special lifting cushions were deployed to the site.

The Ministry of Transportation has been coordinating closely with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), and other relevant agencies to carry out a thorough investigation aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.

All passengers were safely evacuated, and no fatalities were reported. Affected passengers were transported using buses and rescue trains dispatched from Cirebon Station.

In response to potential disruptions to other train services, the Ministry, through the Directorate General of Railways, confirmed that PT KAI has implemented several operational adjustments to minimize delays. These include route diversions and scheduling modifications.

Trains previously operating along the Cirebon–Cikampek route have been rerouted through a circular path connecting Cirebon or Tegal with Purwokerto, Kroya, Banjar, Bandung, and Cikampek.

Four trains affected by the rerouted operations include KA Ciremai (Bandung–Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng), KA Tawang Jaya Premium (Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng–Pasarsenen), KA Brawijaya (Gambir–Malang), and KA Anjasmoro (Surabaya Pasar Turi–Gambir).

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this incident. We urge the public intending to travel by train to stay updated through official channels. Passenger safety remains our top priority,” Minister Dudy said.
