Andrew Tate Buys Bitcoin Dip After Crash

Andrew Tate, the former kickboxing champion and controversial online personality, is notorious for his misogynistic and racist rants. He gained more infamy when he got accused of rape and human trafficking in Europe. But there is another aspect of his life that continues to grab media attention: an obsession with crypto trading.

Tate, who built a sizable following through social media and business courses, has over the years promoted cryptocurrency as a means of financial independence. The journey has hardly been smooth. In the past, he has launched and promoted meme coins such as Daddy Tate (DADDY), Roost (ROOST), Germany Token (GER), and F*ck Tristan (FTRISTAN), which later collapsed amid allegations of insider trading.

In 2023, authorities seized multiple assets, including Bitcoin (BTC) wallets attributed to him during his legal proceedings in Romania. But it hasn't stopped Tate from trading crypto and obsessively sharing with his following its rewards. When the crypto market began crashing after hitting an all-time high (ATH) of $126,000 in October last year, he warned that Bitcoin will crash to $26,000. But he also reassured his followers that the crash will be followed by BTC hitting another ATH. Later, it turned out that he suffered a complete wipeout of his trading balance on the crypto derivatives exchange Hyperliquid in mid-November.

More News: Bitcoin Crash Too Tempting for Tate

Bitcoin has now crashed further. On Feb. 5, BTC fell as low as $66,795.63 after losing more than 8% of its value in the last 24 hours. As per the onchain analytics platform CoinGlass, crypto positions worth $1.42 billion have been wiped out within the last 24 hours. It includes $1.2 billion in long and $212.6 million in short positions. Bitcoin led the rout with $709.7 million in liquidations.

Bitcoin's price drop turned out to be too tempting for Tate, who shared on X that he is buying $2 million worth of BTC at the $67,000 price level. Bitcoin was exchanging hands at $66,691.44 at the time of writing, nearly 50% lower than its ATH of $126,080.
