I recently went through an intense few weeks testing 4 different scalper robots on XAUUSD (Gold). I wanted to find out which one could survive the real market — not just look good in backtests.
Here's how it went:
I ran all four on the same VPS, same broker, with identical risk settings. The first week was promising — two of the EAs performed really well during Asian sessions, grabbing quick 3–5 pip profits. But as volatility increased during major news events, things started falling apart.
One EA kept opening trades right before news — it wiped out two days of gains in a single spike. Another one worked fine in backtests but struggled live due to high slippage on gold.
The Winner?
Surprisingly, the most consistent one was the simplest. It avoided trades when spread was too high and waited for short, calm price movements during low-volume hours. It didn’t trade every day, but when it did, it had over 80% accuracy with tight SL/TP settings.
What I Learned:
Scalping gold is not for every EA. The speed and spread can kill performance fast.
News filters and spread control are a must.
Always test in demo or on cent accounts before going live with real capital.
Most importantly — don’t fall for backtest hype. What looks good in Strategy Tester doesn’t always survive in live conditions.
Stay safe and trade smart,
