YOUR PASSPORT IS REAL. THE ALGORITHM DOESN'T CARE
Episode one: glare. The laminate caught a lamp and half the number vanished for the system. Blame the shooting angle, not the document.
Episode two: compression. The messenger crushed the file, digit edges smeared. A 6 became an 8 and OCR gave up. Send the original, not a screenshot forwarded ten times.
Episode three: the font. In the machine-readable zone, zero and letter O, one and I differ by a couple of pixels. One shadow across the line and your data "mismatches" the form.
Episode four: moiré. A photo of a screen leaves a pixel grid, so the verifier sees a copy of a copy, not a document in your hands.
We change zero characters. We remove everything that stops the camera from seeing the truth.

THE DUTCH ID THAT DIDN'T GET BOUNCED AT VERIFICATION
The client came in with no small talk. One message – full profile: name, date of birth, Dutch citizenship, place of birth, height, hair and eye colour. Then a photo, and his signature as a separate PNG. He clarified one thing only: both sides needed.

Automation filters the obvious. Anything borderline goes to manual review – to an operator with a shift quota and tired eyes.
Then geography kicks in. KYC providers sit in different time zones, one platform often uses several vendors, and review quality varies between shifts.
Friday evening, long holidays, quarter close – queues grow, deadlines slip, decisions turn conservative. A borderline package is easier to reject than to examine.
Morning of a working day in the provider's time zone is the calmest window. Short queue, and the operator has minutes instead of seconds.
A SCANNER RUINS DOCUMENTS MORE OFTEN THAN A PHONE
The logic feels solid: a scanner gives you flat, sharp, distortion-free output. That very flatness is what condemns the file.
Verification looks for signs of handheld capture: slight perspective, natural tilt, uneven depth of field, a soft shadow along the document edge, a hologram responding to angle. A flat scan delivers none of it.
