R.A.S (Recirculation Aquaculture System)
Recirculation systems are becoming increasingly popular as they provide a predictable and constant environment for growing fish. Recirculation systems also occupy very little area and require little water consumption compared to other forms of aquaculture. Cost of production is generally lower for larger producing systems.
The principal behind RAS:-
Recirculation systems occupy a very small area and allow the grower to stock fish at high densities and produce high yields per unit area. A recirculation system is essentially a closed system and involves:-
a) Fish tanks
b) Filtration
c) Water treatment system:-
Water exchanged continuously to guarantee optimum growing conditions. Not all water is 100% exchanged. Most culture systems recommend at least 10-20% water exchange rate per day depending on stocking and feeding rates.
Suitable for:-
Catfish, Patin, Barramundi, Red Tilapia, Snakehead Fish
