Prabowo calls EAEU members promptly ratify FTA with Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto encouraged members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to complete their process in ratifying Indonesia-EAEU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

In his remarks delivered during the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (Sept 3), Prabowo reiterated Indonesia's commitment to immediately implement the FTA signed in December 2025 between Indonesia and EAEU members, which are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and the Eurasian Economic Commission.

"Indonesia completed parliamentary approval of this FTA and last July, I signed the presidential regulation of ratification," the president said.

Prabowo emphasised Indonesia wants the agreement in force and in use as soon as the exchange of notifications allows.

"I respectfully call on every EAEU member state to complete its internal procedures, so that we can make use of this agreement as soon as possible," Prabowo added.

The president added the FTA is a south-south trade architecture that opens five markets to Indonesian producers and gives Eurasian producers access to over 290 million Indonesian consumers.

Through the FTA, Indonesia and the EAEU are committed to eliminating or reducing duties on 11,882 tariff lines or over 90 percent of all goods being traded between the two sides, he remarked.

Prabowo also highlighted Indonesian business delegations in Vladivostok have concluded pilot shipments, name buyers, secure logistics, and settle compliance and payment arrangements that make use of the FTA.

On the same occasion, Prabowo called for optimising partnership between the two countries' sovereign wealth funds, Danantara Indonesia and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

He explained Danantara Indonesia, established with US$1 trillion of assets under its management, can serve as a bridge to connect capital markets.

"Danantara could act as a bridge where Russian and Indonesian capital markets and strategic goals could meet," Prabowo stated.
