Cathie Wood quietly bets on new emerging trend
Cathie Wood's asset management firm ARK Invest has decided to take a plunge into the tokenization space by acquiring a stake in Securitize.
The ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX) held 3.25% of its assets in the prominent tokenization firm as of Sep. 30. Securitize is the fund's eighth largest investment. Given that the fund has $325.3 million in net assets under management, it is estimated that ARK Invest has invested approximately $10 million in Securitize.
Securitize is the world’s leading platform for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization with more than $4 billion in tokenized securities. Tokenization is the process of representing assets like stocks, funds, etc. as digital tokens and offering fractional ownership of these assets to investors. It not only digitizes assets but also makes them fractional and accessible assets available for 24/7 trading.
Prior to ARK Invest, Securitize has secured investments from institutional giants like BlackRock, Hamilton Lane, Jump Crypto, Morgan Stanley, ParaFi Capital, and Tradeweb Markets.

The goal of the latest investment is to further advance institutional adoption of tokenized securities to expand access to regulated investment products, improve capital markets infrastructure, and unlock new forms of programmable ownership.
“Tokenization has reached an inflection point, with some of the largest asset managers and issuers in the world now bringing funds and equities onchain,” said Securitize co-founder and CEO Carlos Domingo.
Wood is one of the most popular investors within the crypto space and her fund has stakes in the stablecoin company Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL), the crypto exchange Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN), trading exchange Robinhood (Nasdaq: HOOD), etc.
