Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Alms Agency (Baznas) explored cooperation opportunities with the United Foundation for Global Development (UFGD) to strengthen humanitarian programs in Palestine and support social infrastructure development in Indonesia.
The two sides convened in Jakarta on Wednesday (Sept. 2), facilitated by the Embassy of Palestine, to discuss potential joint initiatives.
Baznas Deputy Head Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi noted in a statement on Friday that the agency appreciates the embassy for connecting it with UFGD and remains fully committed to contributing to global humanitarian missions.
“We have rolled out a wide range of humanitarian programs for Palestine, ranging from fulfilling food and nutritional needs and providing temporary housing to offering health services and scholarships to Palestinian students,” he said.
Sa’adi expressed optimism that the embassy’s initiative would open up broader avenues for cooperation between Baznas and UFGD.
“We would like to thank the Palestinian Ambassador for facilitating this meeting. Baznas is open and ready to work with UFGD in carrying out our humanitarian responsibilities,” the official remarked.
Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdalfatah A.K. AlSattari emphasized that his side is determined to continue building connections between parties seeking to contribute to humanitarian and development programs.
He voiced hope that collaboration between Baznas and UFGD would deliver significant benefits to communities in both countries.
The envoy concluded by exclaiming, “Free Palestine!”
Meanwhile, the UFGD delegation expressed the nonprofit organization’s readiness to partner with Baznas to construct a mosque inspired by the design of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the holiest Islamic sites in Jerusalem, Palestine.
UFGD also expressed its willingness to assist the philanthropic agency in constructing boreholes in Indonesian regions requiring greater access to safe water, including East Nusa Tenggara, which was recently struck by a deadly magnitude-7.7 earthquake.
