1. Why is AirAsia X cancelling its services between Kuala Lumpur and London?
AirAsia X has decided to cancel its services between Kuala Lumpur to Bahrain and London Gatwick from 27 August 2026 onwards, due to the prolonged geopolitical instability in West Asia.
This decision was made in view of ongoing safety and operational considerations, with the well-being of our guests and crew remaining our highest priority.
2. When will the services be cancelled?
The services between Kuala Lumpur to Bahrain and London Gatwick will be cancelled starting 27 August 2026.
AirAsia X will continue to closely monitor developments and actively assess its flight schedules based on evolving geopolitical conditions.
3. What options do guests have if their flights are affected?
All affected guests will be notified directly via the contact information provided in the original booking.
The following options will be offered to minimise any inconvenience caused by the cancellation:
Full Refund: Obtain a full refund equivalent to the amount of the original booking; OR
Credit Account: A credit account linked to your AirAsia MOVE member account for future travel with AirAsia. The account is valid for 730 days from the date of issue. A valid AirAsia MOVE member account is required to redeem.
These options are applicable for direct bookings made through airasia.com or the AirAsia MOVE app. Guests who booked through a travel agent are advised to contact their respective travel agent directly for further assistance.
4. What if I booked through a third-party booking agent?
If you booked through a third-party booking agent (not directly with AirAsia), please contact your agent for assistance with service recovery options.
5. How do I get in touch with AirAsia X to facilitate the service recovery options due to these routes cancellation?
Notifications of route cancellation will be sent out in stages to all affected guests. Guests may contact us via our official customer support channel (AskBo).
6. Will AirAsia X provide any compensation for my missed tours, connecting flights, cancellation for hotel bookings or any other out of pocket expenses incurred due to these routes cancellation?
We are doing our best to minimise the disruption by providing as much forward notice as possible with listed service recovery options for affected guests.
