7 Tips For Best Skin Care During Lockdown Due to The Corona Virus

At the time of writing, many countries are in some form of lockdown due to the Corona Virus outbreak. This is a time where it is not possible to get a quality skin treatment from a skin clinic or salon and so, more than ever, it is important to look after your skin at home. A good skincare routine is, of course, paramount in helping to keep your skin looking great but there are other factors to bear in mind also.

1. Drink Plenty of Water

Water is crucial for your overall health and in particular for looking after your skin. Depending on your size you really should be looking to have at least 2 pints of water per day. If you are of a taller of a larger build then we would recommend 3 to 4 pints of water per day. Water is so important to not only hydrate the skin but it helps really clear out the toxins that build up during the day and night. Toxins are largely caused by environmental pollution, surface dust / dirt as well as certain products that we place into our bodies.

2. Cleanse your face twice a day to maintain clean skin

You must really try and cleanse your skin twice a day. More than twice will cause the skin to dry out and less than twice will give your skin more time absorb toxins and dirt. The cleansing cream or foam to use should be of the gentle sort and avoid those containing micro beads as you do not want to be exfoliating your skin regularly and stripping away the goodness as well as it leaving it more exposed to sun damage. You also need to avoid cleansers that will strip the skin of its moisture causing lipid dryness

3. Moisturise Your Skin

Use a moisturiser every day. Ideally you should be doing this early in the morning after your cleanse and should be part of your everyday skincare regime. The moisturiser helps to lock in your moisture and the serums that you use. You should avoid mineral and paraffin wax as they will clog up your pores. There is a huge selection of moisturisers in the market place today and the choice can be confusing. The best thing to do is to speak to a local skin therapist who can look closely at your skin, determine the skin type and advise you on the best moisturiser for your skin type.

4. Sleep - lack of sleep causes your skin and other organs not to relax which does not help your skin look good.

Getting a good night’s sleep allows all areas of your body to re-charge including your skin. A lack of quality sleep is another big contributor for not having the best skin care during lock down. Your skin wants to rest as you do. If you manage to eat a healthy diet, drink the right amount of water and get some good cardio exercise during the day (even in the house), you will allow your body to switch off more easily, therefore get more sleep and improve your skin.

5. Exercise Regularly

For the best skin care during lock down your really need to do regular exercise (once a day, which the UK is allowing at the time of writing). Regular exercise is not only good for your physical health and your mental health, it is also excellent for your skin. Exercise encourages blood flow which means that large amounts of Oxygen flow through your body including into the largest of organs, your skin. Your blood will also carry nutrients and therefore the superior nourishment that your skin needs.

6. Diet

A great nutritional diet is really important for great skin as well as of course for excellent health. A good diet means you are less susceptible to organ damage which includes the largest organ, your skin. The best foods to include in your diet include fruit (especially berries) and vegetables, and healthy fats from avocados, oily fish and nuts. Eating these types food should give the optimal levels nutrients that are crucial for radiant skin.

7. Face Touching - touching your face at any time, especially during the Corono Virus promotes bad skin

We are being told every day during the Corona Virus lockdown that we should avoid touching our face. We should particularly avoid touching our eyes, nose and mouth. It is natural when there is so much anxiety for us to touch our faces more than usual and a genetic form of comfort. However, if your hands are not constantly clean then, by touching your face, you will be constantly transferring dirt and germs to your facial skin. This will increase the bacteria in your open pores which will cause blackheads, spots and blemishes.
