KUALA TERENGGANU: Pas will leave it entirely to the authorities to investigate claims and accusations that the Islamist party gave cash to voters during the run up to the 15th general elections (GE15).
Vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said politicians and leaders who claim that Pas gave money to voters are urged to make a police report to enable the authorities to carry out investigations.
"My view regarding the claims that Pas gave money to voters is the same as the statements issued by a few of the party's top leaders who include party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
"We will leave it to the relevant authorities to investigate such claims and accusations," he said after officiating the appreciation ceremony for the YT - TI Young Talent Scholarship here today.
Last Saturday, Abdul Hadi, who is also Marang Member of Parliament (MP) was reported to have defended the distribution of money by certain individuals to voters during campaigning leading up to GE15, by claiming that it was 'sedekah' (charity).
On the accusation made by state Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad who also claimed that Pas gave amounts of cash between RM300 and RM600 to voters, Ahmad Samsuri who is also Menteri Besar declined further comments. Instead he reiterated that Pas will leave the issue to the authorities to carry out further investigations.
