- AGENSI

The Hangang River, which cuts through the middle of the capital, has risen dramatically because of the rain, forcing closure of many roads and low-lying bridges.

Drivers are advised to stay updated on the water level situation.
Kim Sung-min explains further.
The pouring rain has engulfed the whole of Jamsu bridge in Seoul.
The water on the Han River is eight meters higher than usual..., almost nine.
The adverse weather conditions have led to many roads in and around Seoul being closed during the day, causing large traffic jams.
"The Jamsu bridge has been closed off for more than 24 hours.
But since the water is not rising as fast as before, some other roads that had been closed have reopened."
This includes the Olympic Bridge and the Dongbu Expressway..., which were reopened at 4 PM.
The decision could be reversed, though, if the water rises again.
The interchange roads in Banpo and Jamwon, Shinjamwon and Oksu are still closed.
And just south of the capital region, Chungcheongbuk-do Province has been seeing heavy rain in some regions on Monday almost 20 to 50 millimeters per hour.
Gangwon-do Province has seen over three-hundred millimeters of rain for each of the past three days and that's expected to continue until Tuesday.
These areas and Seoul are expected to see heavy rain for the rest of Monday... up to around one hundred millimeters per hour.
That amount of rain makes it hard to see and can flood normally safe urban areas, so take extra caution when going outdoors.

Heavy rain continues in parts of South Korea already hit by deadly flooding and landslides.

Thousands of people have had to evacuate, and key roads have been closed.

Our Kim Do-yeon has the latest.

With heavy rain in South Korea continuing for more than a month, the casualties continue to rise.

In just the past three days, rain in the southern part of the country has led to 13 deaths with two people missing.
Nationwide, there are 42 people dead or missing since the first of the month.

The flooding has forced some 6,000 people out of their homes and inundated vast swathes of farmland.

Of the displaced people, around 4,000 are still not able to go back to their homes and are staying with family or at temporary shelters.

Fire departments across the country have saved and evacuated nearly 2,000 people.

As for property damage, the floods have affected more than 9-thousand public and private facilities.

Around three-quarters of those have been restored so that they're at least usable.
Many key roads have been closed as well.

Those include parts of the highways linking the cities of Gwangju and Daegu, Suncheon and Wanju, and Daejun and Tongyeong.

Gwangju Airport had to cancel ten flights on Saturday because its runways had flooded, but now flights are taking off again.
