Manchester United Place £18m Serie A Hotshot at Top Of Summer Wishlist
by Christian Bailey on April 29th, 2010
Sir Alex Ferguson will make a hefty summer bid to sign in form Roma striker Mirko Vucinic. The Old Trafford boss sees the Montenegrin international as an ideal foil to England international Wayne Rooney and is ready to make an offer of around £18m to sign the former Lecce player who cost Roma just £3m in 2006.
Vucinic is having the best season of his career and has netted 17 goals in all competitions this term helping Claudio Ranieri’s side to within reach of Serie A leaders Inter Milan. The talented forward’s physical attributes would make him an ideal Premier League signing and his ability to hold up the ball and bring in those around him greatly interests Manchester United.
The reigning Premier League champions are ready to offload former Tottenham man Dimitar Berbatov after a distinctly average season and would ideally consider a potential player swap to sweeten any potential move for the 26 year old Roma forward.

It must have been painful for Sir Alex Ferguson to watch his old nemesis Jose Mourinho guide Internazionale into the Champions League final last night.
The European Cup has always been Fergie's favourite competition, but he has identified the man to help his side regain their status as Europe's elite club.
According to The Sun, that man is 24-year-old Tottenham midfielder Modric.
The Red Devils are said to be lining up a £25 million bid for the diminutive Croatian midfielder who Ferguson praised in the programme notes at the recent United v Spurs game when he said: "And I give you another wee man who'll be at Old Trafford this afternoon: Luka Modric, who is playing out of his skin at the moment."
Tottenham will no doubt try and bat off the advances of their Premier League rivals, but United have managed to prise the likes of Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov away from them in recent seasons and will be confident their pockets will prove deep enough once more.
A possible arrival at White Hart Lane is Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop. The Turk is out of contract in the summer and Harry Redknapp is ready to compete with Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid for his signature.
Manchester United Ready to Make £14m Bid for the “New Vidic” to Play Alongside Nemanja
by Christian Bailey on April 29th, 2010
According to the German daily Bild, Manchester United are interested in signing highly-rated centre-back Neven Subotic in the summer.
The 21 year-old is in his second season at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund , where he has impressed greatly. At 6ft 3in, Subotic is a very imposing defender, but also boasts good pace too. The Serbian international has drawn inevitable comparisons to compatriot and current Manchester United star, Nemanja Vidic .
Bild claims that Subotic’s agent, Stephen Kelly, is close to Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson, which could help to smooth a summer deal.
The German daily also quotes Borussia Dortmund general manager, Hans-Joachim Watzke who emphasized that Manchester United will have to pay significant money for Subotic’s signature, saying, “If Manchester want him, they have to come with…at least two large trucks filled with folded pound notes,”
Bild estimates that Subotic would cost United around € 20 million, but a good performance at the World Cup could push his value up further. Chelsea have also previously been linked to Subotic, who speaks fluent English having grown up in America. (IMScouting)
Clearly having one Vidic isn’t enough, Sir Alex now wants to bring in the man dubbed as the next incarnation of the determined man mountain of a centre back. All and sundry are trying to nab Borussia Dortmund’s Neven Subotic and one may wonder if Ferguson needs to badly bring in another central defender.
Yes Rio Ferdinand appears to have some injury concerns but Manchester United also have Jonny Evans to call upon plus the likes of Wes Brown if needed. They have also only recently signed up and coming youngster Chris Smalling so perhaps a move for another Serbian international is not as pressing as some would have you believe. After all no Premier League team has conceded fewer goals than the Old Trafford side!
That being said it may be worth snapping up the highly rated youngster so as to prevent the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea doing so.
