2Q12 Results: Below Expectations
While top line came in within expectations, DiGi’s 1H12 core net profit of RM644.8m disappoints ours and street estimates, accounting for 44% of HLIB and 40% of consensus full year forecast.
Declared 2nd interim tax exempt (single-tier) dividend of 5.9 sen (2011: 3 sen), translating to a payout ratio of 141%. Total dividend declared for FY12 amounted to 11.8 sen, excluding capital repayment of 6.5 sen per share.
The proposal of DiGi Tel’s capital repayment via capital reduction exercise has been approved by the High Court. Lodgment of relevant forms to the CCM is expected to be completed by 4Q12 or earlier. This will work out to be additional dividend of 6.4 sen per share for FY13.
We upgraded our DDM-derived TP by 7.8% to RM4.01 based on WACC of 6.04% and TG of 0% as we roll over our valuations. We maintain HOLD call for the stock.

Oil & gas may be the next big thing
KUALA LUMPUR: Oil and gas could be the next big thing for stock market players, in the remaing five months of the year, after the influential research firm, CIMB Investment Research said that a number of oil and gas companies were poised to register record earnings this year.
In a report late last week, CIMB Research said oil and gas companies such as Dialog Group Bhd, Perisai Petroleum Bhd, SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd, Wah Seong Corp Bhd and Bumi Armada Bhd are expected to post their record high earnings this year.
Much of the research house optimism is tied to Petroliam Nasional Bhd's (Petronas) plan to boost output by developing new and marginal fields.
As early as last month, Petronas had announced that it plans to invest up to RM300 billion over the next five years, or up to RM60 billion a year, to develop new fields, and initiatives to develop marginal fields.
This is higher than the RM34.9 billion it invested during the financial year ended March 31, 2011.
Thus far this year, collectively the major publicly traded oil and gas companies have marginally out performed the key index.
Oil and gas counters on the average have appreciated by seven per cent this year, on a weighted average basis as opposed to the 6.8 per cent jump for the local bourse.

We initiate coverage on DRB-Hicom Bhd (DRBH), recommending a Buy with target price of RM3.45. We see strong growth potential in its automotive division mainly from its collaboration with Volkswagen and the inclusion of Proton Holdings under its large stable of companies. Although contribution from the services and property, asset and construction (PAC) segments are relatively smaller, these businesses will provide the Group with stable recurring income.
