85,000 ejen insurans tidak berdaftar

Terdapat 85,000 ejen insurans yang berdaftar dengan Persatuan Insurans Hayat Malaysia (LIAM) dan kira-kira 30,000 dengan Persatuan Takaful Malaysia (MTA). Namun, wujud juga ejen yang didapati tidak berdaftar dengan kedua-dua badan ini.


Justeru, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) menasihatkan agar pengguna berwaspada terhadap ejen insurans yang tidak berdaftar.

Menurut BNM, sebelum membeli insurans, pelanggan perlu memeriksa latar belakang ejen yang berkaitan melalui syarikat insurans terbabit atau pengendali takaful. Mereka juga boleh memeriksa maklumat ejen melalui LIAM atau MTA untuk memastikan ejen itu adalah ejen yang sah.

Satu lagi maklumat penting yang wajib diketahui pembeli polisi insurans adalah elakkan membayar premium insurans yang dilanggan menggunakan wang tunai termasuk melalui akaun bank peribadi ejen insurans terbabit.

Pelanggan boleh membuat pembayaran melalui cek, kiriman wang, auto debit atau kad kredit dan membuat bayaran itu terus kepada syarikat insurans atau pengendali takaful.

“Pelanggan perlu was-was sekiranya harga insurans atau takaful yang ditawarkan terlalu rendah daripada syarikat insurans atau pengendali takaful lain. Pelanggan juga perlu bertegas untuk dapatkan bil terperinci bagi perkhidmatan perubatan yang diberikan dan semak ketepatannya,” kata BNM melalui laman webnya.

Selain itu, pelanggan perlu menghubungi syarikat insurans atau pengendali takaful, LIAM atau MTA serta pihak polis sekiranya ditipu.
