Men in Black III, stylized MIB3 and previously entitled Men in Black III-D, is an upcoming 3D science fiction comedy film starring Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith.[1] It will be released as the sequel to Men in Black II on May 25, 2012, ten years after its predecessor,[2] and will also star Josh Brolin and Jemaine Clement, with Barry Sonnenfeld returning as director, and Steven Spielberg returning as executive producer. The film is the third entry in the popular Men in Black film series which is based on the Malibu comic book series The Men in Black by Lowell Cunningham. Principal photography began in New York City on November 16, 2010

Plot

Only a few details about the film's plot have been confirmed though the film will have a time travel plot with Agent J having to go back in time to 1969 to visit a young Agent K. The film's villain, Boris, travels back in time to try to kill Agent K in order to set off a chain of events which will result in the end of the world.

Here's a couple new photos from the set of Men in Black III featuring Will Smith and Josh Brolin. We also have a shot of the those crazing looking light bike riders from the previous films. These images come from he Relish diner in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where they were shooting on Wednesday night. Production will move to the Grashorn Building on Coney Island where the film will shoot for a few days.

I've enjoyed the Men in Black films, and I'm looking forward to this. They have a great cast and a fun sounding time travel story. All I ask is that be just as entertaining as the first two films.

The film is being directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, and also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Alice Eve and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film is scheduled for release on May 25, 2012

And, despite the fact that Men in Black II received mostly unfavorable reviews, it was a box office success with nearly $500 million in the bank. So it was inevitable that Men In Black III would get made – eventually.

Since production started, there have been reports that MIB III isn’t going as well as one would hope – rewrites, delays, on-set turmoil and so forth – causing fans of the series to be worried about the impending film’s quality. Recently, photos from the second sequel hit the Internet by way of Daily Mail, showcasing a time-traveling Agent J (Will Smith) with a young Agent K (Josh Brolin).

The story of Men in Black III revolves around Agent J traveling back to 1969 to stop an alien named Boris the Biker – played by Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) – from killing Agent K before he can become…well, Tommy Lee Jones, basically. Along the way, we’ll no doubt see all kinds of Forrest Gump-esque historical hijinks and what have you.

As problematic as the production timeline has been, I think it’s safe to say that Josh Brolin pulls off a pretty convincing young Tommy Lee Jones. Also, I can’t help but feel that there’s some kind of No Country for Old Men reference being made here, which is almost always a good thing.

Still, it’s reasonably worrisome that a film like this has had rewrite after rewrite after rewrite, not to mention shooting delays and actors leaving (Alec Baldwin, we hardly knew ye). Not that it isn’t possible for a film with so many issues to be excellent – Steven Spielberg’s Jaws was deemed a total train wreck during filming, and then, one of the greatest films ever when it finally hit theaters. My point is – let’s keep a semi-open mind here, at least until we see some footage.

Columbia Pictures has released some new photos from Men In Black 3 via Yahoo. Despite the troubled road the third installment has had in getting to theaters, I am interested in seeing this film. The movie has Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones reprising their roles and also stars Josh Brolin as a young Agent K. The film was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and also stars Alice Eve, Emma Thompson, Rip Torn, Johnny Knoxville, and Jemaine Clement.

In Men in Black 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner.
